Lovely relaxing in North Limburg
Willy Lauwers and Mieke Vliegen are pleased to welcome you in De Pastory. De Pastory of Grote-Brogel - a borough of the city of Peer - was still the home of the village priest only a couple of years ago. Now it is a charming place to stay opposite the lovingly restored church of Saint Trudo. In this beautifully renovated property (end of the 19th century) one can enjoy peace and beauty in a rural environment. Here you can go hiking and cycling to your heart's content or explore the neighbouring Bruegel city of Peer or shopping city of Bree. Hasselt is about 30 minutes away by car, for Maastricht and Aachen you'll have to drive an hour.
Limburg is known for its excellent cycle node network. We're happy to help you get started. De Pastory is bicycle-friendly.

Peer, where Brueghel learned to paint
Peer is a cosy city in North Limburg with about 16,000 inhabitants. It's ideal as a starting point to discover the region or to enjoy the healthy natural environment. There is the rather large nature reserve the Dommelvallei and the hiking area Resterheide with the Begijnenvijvers (Beguines' ponds) and the arboretum of over 100 years old in a protected nature reserve. Peer is known for its rural tourism. Especially cycling, hiking, equestrian, rural and farm tourism are assets. There are numerous museums where you can get in touch with the culture of our city, as well as sports and recreational facilities. 'Bosland' (Woodland) is also in the vicinity. Bosland is the largest forest of Flanders. You can hike endlessly through forest and valleys. You can enjoy the infinite vastness of the many routes and then while away in hidden picnic spots in the blissful calm of the forest.
Peer presents itself as the Bruegel city, because the painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder is born here. His presumed place of birth is near De Pastory.
